
What type of activities can we expect from SPN?
SPN seeks to provide a professional platform for members to develop their networks and careers, therefore, the activities will focus on the professional aspects of career development, progression and network expansion. Industry-specific activities for each industry silo will be organized to cater to the diverse groups of members in SPN.
Mentoring activities for students will also feature prominently with student networking events, industry seminars and panel discussions catering to the diverse industry groups.
What are the criteria for joining SPN?
There are no criteria for admission and participation in SPN. SPN strives to cater to every individual working in the UK primarily, who has an interest in further developing his or her contact network and career.
Individuals interested in joining SPN are requested to forward a copy of their CV for registration purposes. This is to allow us to have a basic profile of the network and to assist where members have careers related enquiries.
Are my details safe with SPN?
All members details are treated with the utmost confidentiality and will at no time be released, used or disseminated in any form. SPN believes strongly in reciprocating the trust of the members by safeguarding any information pertaining to its members.
Are there any membership costs?
There are no costs to membership as SPN strives to be accessible to everyone. Although there is no annual membership fee, there may be occasions where a small administrative fee is applied to cover operational costs.
Is it only applicable to Singaporeans working in the UK?
No. SPN is open to everyone with the interest regardless of nationality, race or background. Therefore, SPN welcomes all Singaporeans and non-Singaporeans. In fact, at present a significant proportion of the membership consists of like-minded peers from various countries in Asia.
How active does one have to be once a member?
Participation in SPN is determined by one's interest and is entirely to the discretion of the individual member. In order to ensure that SPN is relevant and value-added to all members, we encourage all members to actively provide ideas and feedback on a continual basis.
Is SPN related to the Singapore government?
No. SPN is a non-profit, non-governmental organization that is fully independent. SPN, however, appreciates the support and endorsement from various agencies, both Singaporean and international.
Who are the co-founders?
The co-founders are working professionals based in London having transitioned from undergraduate studies in UK universities. Each co-founder has prior relevant experience in the management of non-profit, non-governmental organizations. The group consists of Victoria Chen, Sherwin Loh, L B Sim, David Sin and C P Tei.
